Cooking mode
Full screen, one step at a time, and a screen that stays on. How to start, move between steps and finish cooking. Mobile app only.
Cooking mode is only in the mobile app. In the browser you read the recipe in the normal view.
Cooking mode takes you through a recipe step by step. Your phone’s screen stays on while you cook.
Getting started
- Open a recipe that has steps.
- Tap Start cooking.
At the top you’ll see a progress bar and the step number, e.g. “Step 3 of 7”.
Moving between steps
- Swipe left or right (“Swipe between steps”),
- or use the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom.
What’s in a step
- the step text — technical words are underlined; tap one and the Guide explains it,
- Ingredients for this step — tick off what’s already in the bowl,
- Equipment for this step, if the author ticked it,
- timers — times from the step as buttons you can start (see the article on timers),
- Add note — a note on the step for next time.
A recipe open in cooking mode also works without internet. You’ll then see “Offline mode — recipe available without a connection”.
Finishing
On the last step tap Finish. The Done! screen lets you:
- write a Next time note (e.g. “less salt”),
- Add photo of the finished dish,
- take the ingredients you used out of the pantry — the question Take it out of the pantry? and the Deduct button,
- go Back to recipe.
The dish is saved as cooked — you’ll see it on Home in the Cooked section.
If you leave mid-way while a timer is running, Przepisnik asks Stop cooking? — the timer will then be switched off.
