Your first cake in the planner

The cake planner is on the Plus plan. It works on the phone and in the browser.

The planner builds a cake from your recipes: sponge, cream, a crisp layer, jelly, glaze and coating. Recipes scale to the cake’s diameter, and the shopping adds up for the whole thing.

Layer recipes

The planner uses recipes marked as cake layers. In the recipe form, in the Cake part (“Cake layer — type and size”):

1. Pick a layer type, e.g. Sponge (cake base) or Cream / filling.
2. Say what tin the recipe is for: “Recipe for a tin of … cm, height … cm”.
3. Save the recipe.

Leave a recipe that isn’t a layer on Not a layer.

A new cake

1. Open Cakes (on the phone from the bottom bar or More → Cakes, in the browser from the side menu).
2. Choose New cake.
3. Enter a name, e.g. “Birthday cake”.
4. Answer How many people? — you’ll see “Suggested diameter: … cm”. You can change it in the Diameter field and set the Height.
5. Choose the Slice size: Small slice (when there are other sweets alongside) or Large slice (when the cake is the main dessert). The number of slices updates at once.
6. Under Start from, choose a ready layout, e.g. Classic: sponge + cream, or Scratch. A template adds any recipes you’re missing. You can also start Like a previous cake.
7. Tap Create.

The first layers

1. Tap Add layer.
2. Pick a recipe from From your recipes. Nothing suitable? Use Create a recipe: … or a recipe from Przepisnik recommends.
3. The first layer is always a sponge — “Add a sponge as the cake base, then you can add other layers.”
4. Add more layers with Add layer, or at a specific spot with Add here.

The cross-section at the top shows the layers in their real proportions. Changes save on their own, and Undo and Redo in the header step back and forth.

When the cake is ready, To the list adds the ingredients of every layer to the shopping list.
